When Sarah & Jake were planning their winter wedding, they thought it would be very fun and special to come back to where it all started. This love story starts at Snowbasin Ski Resort, where Sarah and Jake met and spent their first date!
The two rode up to the very top, hiked a bit and skied down a very technical area together. After their ski day, they headed over to Carlos & Harleys, a Mexican Cantina near the resort. And played in the grass field next door like little kids. From there, they couldn’t get enough of each other! Jake joined Sarah and her friends to go out dancing that evening.
Since moving out of Utah to Massachusetts, they are so excited to bring their loved ones back to Utah to celebrate their marriage!

Apres Ski Wedding Party
Their wedding weekend starts with a giant ski party at Powder Mountain Ski Resort! What’s a winter wedding without an Apres Ski Party?!
It was a warm and sunny bluebird day. Not necessarily ideal conditions for skiing, but it’s always a good day to be on the mountain. Especially surrounded by everyone you love! After their ski day, they kicked off their Apres Ski Party at Powder Keg, where they had a couple beers and danced on the tables to live music! Then, headed over to their family’s cabin for a laid back evening to hangout with friends and family. They built a “ski-cuterie” board with little snacks, and catered burritos from Chipotle to refuel after a day on the slopes. Lastly, closing out the evening with a firework show.

Snowbasin Wedding Day
After having a slow, relaxed morning at the cabin… Sarah, Jake, and all their wedding guests got to ride the gondola up for their wedding at Snowbasin! It was another sunny, bluebird day clocking in at 72 degrees.
At the top of the gondola, Sarah and Jake had a first look moment witnessed by their bridal party, before starting their ceremony on the deck of the Needles Lodge. The two read their vows in unison with one another, before saying ‘I do’ and concluding their ceremony by smashing the glass and cheering “Mazel Tov!” – time to party!

Snowbasin Wedding Reception
The wedding party headed back inside the lodge, while Sarah and Jake took a private moment outside. While it is common to take family photos after the ceremony, Sarah and Jake’s highest priority for their wedding day was to spend it present with each other and their loved ones. So we took care of all the posed family and bridal party photos they wanted before the ceremony, and enjoyed cocktail hour with their guests!
The rest of the evening followed a traditional wedding schedule with dinner, a couple speeches by family and friends, and a party put on by one of Utah’s best – DJ Matty Mo!

I seriously loved seeing how these two looked at each other throughout the entire day. It was so fun getting to know their friends and family, as I told the story of their ski wedding weekend in Utah! Sarah and Jake hold people at the center of their lives, and it definitely shows through their wedding day.
Your Winter Wedding

I hope this gave you inspiration for your wedding day! While I typically photograph smaller weddings and elopements, it was so special to photograph a wedding at Snowbasin after spending the past two seasons learning how to snowboard here. It is the perfect venue to have a smooth, stress-free wedding with a touch of adventure!
