I love how carefree and easy going this Moab Elopement Day was. Jaylen and Bijan are Moab locals who love exploring the trails in their backyard, staying involved in their local community, and traveling. But more than anything, these two wanted to spend their elopement day in the special place they call home, with their dog, Meeko!

Jaylen & Bijan’s Adventure Elopement in Moab
It was such a joy to share the back seat of their truck with Meeko, as Bijan drove us out to where he grew up. We spent the evening hiking out to a secluded spot in Moab where Jaylen and Bijan danced in the desert and read their vows. Meanwhile, Meeko found an adventure of his own and graced us with his presence after he went swimming in some water nearby.
We ended the evening visiting Bijan’s childhood home, where the two changed into casual clothes and ran through the field with Meeko as the sun set on the red rocks. Finally, we ended the night snacking on peanut butter pretzels before heading back into town for dinner and drinks at Antica Forma – the best place to get pizza in Moab.

Tips for Planning Your Moab Elopement Day
Best Time of Year to Elope in Moab
Moab is one of the best places to elope due to its adventurous and laidback nature. Though, Arches and Canyonlands National Park draw quite a bit of tourism, so you’ll want to plan your elopement in the off season.
For warm but mild temperatures, plan your elopement in March, April, October, or November! Not only are temperatures best these months, you’ll also miss all the tour buses that come through in the summer.

How to Plan a Dog-Friendly Elopement in Moab
If you want to include your dog in your elopement day, you won’t want to skip this section!
While dogs aren’t allowed on any trail in Arches or Canyonlands, you can elope at these nearby locations that are dog-friendly, and oftentimes less crowded than the National Parks!
- Dead Horse Point State Park feels like a mini Grand Canyon and is located about 45 minutes from Moab Main Street. It is dog-friendly and has fire pits so you can spend the evening around the campfire after your elopement!
- Castle Valley has lots of lowkey trails to explore and is great for more privacy.
- Moonflower Canyon Recreation Area is only 15 minutes from Moab and runs along the Colorado River.

How to Extend Your Adventure Elopement Day
Jaylen and Bijan kept it simple, but the possibilities for fun and adventure are endless in Moab! Here are some fun ways you can add more adventure to your Moab elopement day:
- Offroading through the red rocks in a 4×4 Jeep or ATV
- Horseback Riding through the Desert
- If you’re an adrenaline junkie, or in need of a nervous system reset, look into Base Jumping!
- Stargazing – a great activity in the summer when the temperature becomes perfect after the sun goes down!
