Ashley and Alex reached out to me document their summer wedding at their favorite ski resort – Solitude Mountain Resort. We instantly connected over our love for traveling and the mountains.
Their Engagement Session
A couple months prior to their wedding day, I got to meet Ashley and Alex for their engagement session. We took their engagements up Big Cottonwood Canyon in Utah, just 30 minutes south of Solitude Mountain Resort. In addition to their fun and loving energy, it was fun to contrast their snowy engagements with their sunny, summer wedding. It fit these mountain lovers perfectly!
Pro tip: Take your engagement photos with the same photographer you choose for your wedding. This will give you the opportunity to meet your photographer and become comfortable with how they work. I can guarantee you’ll feel more confident in front of their camera on your wedding day! Also, your engagement and wedding photos will look cohesive.
Getting Ready
Ashley and Alex spent the morning of their wedding day with their friends and family in the Village at Solitude. First, I arrived to take flatlay details and getting ready shots. I could feel the excitement and nervous energy in the air!
The rooms at the lodge made for the perfect getting ready spot. Ashley got ready with the help of her mom and bridesmaids. Then, we headed down to the St. Bernard’s for the ceremony.
Ceremony
It was a beautiful ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family. Additionally, the weather was a perfect 70 degrees and breathing in the crisp mountain air. Seriously, the definition of a summer solitude mountain wedding! Their fun and goofy personalities came out in the ceremony and I loved how we could feel their love for each other radiating.
After the ceremony we took some brief family photos and then onto to everyone’s favorite part – cocktail hour!
Bride + Groom Photos
Then, Ashley and Alex stepped away for some private time to take some photos of the two of them. The way the sun was hitting the blooming wildflowers made for stunning scenery!
Reception
Now that the photos were done, we enjoyed a simple reception with dinner, drinks, and dessert catered by Solitude. Ashley and Alex shared a first dance and then let everyone onto the dance floor. It was the perfect cool temperature for an outside dance party!
Finally, the night did have to come to an end with a glow wand send off. But, Ashley and Alex left the next morning to continue the fun on their European honeymoon! At the end of it all, this was a beautiful day full of laughter and love. I certainly enjoyed getting to document their special day and join the fun!
