Utah’s Top Mountain Wedding Venues

Planning Resources

BACK TO ALL POSTS

Known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation, Utah is one of the best states for a mountain wedding. And it is home to many amazing mountain wedding venues.

A mountain wedding venue is great for those of you that would like to be surrounded by the mountains on your wedding day, but also have an indoor space in case the weather is bad. Additionally, a venue is good for those that have a guest list larger than 30-50 people and would benefit from having venue staff on site.

Ski Resort Mountain Wedding Venues

Ski resorts are the epitome of a Utah mountain wedding. They offer indoor-outdoor spaces to get ready and eat while still being surrounded by the mountain’s natural beauty for your ceremony and photos. Nothing beats a ski resort wedding in the summer or fall when the mountain is green and colorful, and the temperature is perfect. Below are the best resorts for a wedding in Utah!

Snowbasin Resort

Snowbasin is a ski resort located near Huntsville, UT, an hour north of Salt Lake City. The resort has two lodge options that both offer indoor and outdoor space with beautiful mountain views.

Snowbasin offers all inclusive wedding packages, so you can expect the resort to provide all food, beverage, serving staff, bartenders, furniture, linen, and space.

Alta Resort

The town of Alta is located in Little Cottonwood Canyon, about 40 minutes from downtown Salt Lake. It is one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Utah and home to Alta Ski Resort. The resort has two lodge options for your wedding:

  1. Alta Lodge
Alta Lodge has a quiet mountain inn setting with a breathtaking view of the canyon. Furthermore, you can book the entire lodge exclusively for your wedding for a more intimate and romantic experience. Guest capacity of 130 people.
  2. Alta Peruvian Lodge
This European-style lodge is located at 8500 ft with a gorgeous view of little cottonwood canyon behind the outdoor ceremony space. Unlike many resorts, you are free to use outside caterer and bar services. 200 guest capacity.

Solitude Mountain Resort

This Ski Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon has something for everyone with 5 different ceremony sites and 3 reception venues. With each venues holding between 150-300 guests. In addition to their customizable venue sites, Solitude’s European-style village offers fantastic accommodations and spa services for a fun and relaxing week in the mountains.

Sundance Mountain Resort

Sundance Mountain Resort is located a little over an hour from downtown SLC. The resort offers a variety of spaces from small cabins nestled in the trees to mountain top ceremony locations. In addition to stunning mountain views for your ceremony and reception, Sundance Mountain Resort has many activities for you and your guests to enjoy, like horseback riding, zipline tours, spa services, and of course countless hiking and biking trails!

Non-Ski Resort Mountain Wedding Venues

While most of Utah’s mountain wedding venues are located on ski resorts, I have thrown in a couple that are not.

Timber Moose Lodge

Timber Moose Lodge is America’s biggest private log cabin. It is the perfect space for a private and intimate wedding, located in Heber, Utah. The cabin sleeps up to 58 people and can accommodate nearly 100 guests. Furthermore, its large deck overlooks Heritage Lake and is surrounded by mountain views making it the perfect mountain getaway.

Log Haven

If you want to get married in the mountains but don’t want it to be on a ski resort, consider Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon. You won’t get mountain views here but you will be nestled within the trees. Log Haven sits on 40 acres of private land and can accommodate up to 275 guests.

Park City Mountain Wedding Venues

Park City is another great area in Utah to house your mountain wedding. It sits 45 minutes east of the SLC airport and is known for its world-class ski resorts and year-round outdoor recreation. From hiking, golfing, mountain biking, skiing, and more. Park City also offers shopping and local festivals for your guests that aren’t into mountain activities.

Park City is a good option for those wanting to have a larger wedding, as many of the venues can hold 200-400 guests. However, there are still a few options for those of you with a smaller party.
