Angela & Clay’s Big Sur Elopement Story
When dreaming up their elopement day… Angela and Clay knew they wanted to spend the day exploring somewhere they had never been before. When they came across Big Sur, they knew it was the place. From the quiet and intimate redwood forests, to the coastal beauty. It seemed like the most beautiful and peaceful place they could spend their special day together.
Getting Ready in Carmel-by-the-Sea
Angela & Clay’s elopement day starts in Carmel, California at a lovely Airbnb that is tucked in the trees. Music fills the house as they each get ready. I help Angela zip her dress up and then they have a private first look on the back deck, overlooking the pacific ocean. Now it’s time to head down the coast to Big Sur!
Private Ceremony at Glen Oaks Big Sur
One of the coolest things about eloping in Big Sur is you get gorgeous coastal views, and redwood forests all in the same day! Angela and Clay visited the private redwood forest at Glen Oaks Big Sur for a private ceremony underneath these giant, sacred trees. When you book a room on the property – they let you elope there for free! Saves you the hassle of getting a permit, and then all you need is an officiant and a photographer that knows their way around the area.
Big Sur Elopement Day
After their ceremony, we picked up some pizza and champagne from Fernwood Tavern and drove up the coast for a coast side picnic! After taking some photos in the old Dodge Dart Convertible they rented for their Big Sur elopement day, it was about time to head to our sunset location.
Sunset Vows on the Coast of Big Sur
Angela and Clay wanted their personal vows to be completely private, so they chose to read them on the beach with the sound of waves crashing in the background. Watching the world turns every shade of pink and orange was seriously the perfect ending to this Big Sur elopement day. If you know anything about Big Sur… you know sunsets like this don’t always happen, so we felt like mother nature was giving us a biiiig hug. Telling us we are right where we are meant to be (:
